Rosemary Allen – Cambridge 2018 – Senior Silver

Cambridge 2018 – Senior Silver (17/03/18)

I entered the Cambridge 2018, Senior Silver tournament having not trained in nearly 2 weeks due to illness. Never the less, I managed to win a silver in the doubles, which I was pleased with.

In the singles, I faced Katie Scott. I lost this match 21-17, 21-19. This was a tough loss as I had beaten her earlier in the season. However, Katie played very well & went on to win the whole tournament without dropping a set.

In the doubles I played with Amy Hayhoe. As there were only 5 entries, we were placed into 1 box. First up we faced Alison Meijers & Alison Reed, who we beat 21-10, 21-13. Next we had Jersey pair, Elise Dixon & Emily Temple-Redshaw, who we beat 21-16, 21-18. We then faced Abbie Smith & Chloe Hunt, who I had played last weekend. I focused on their strengths & weaknesses that I could remember from last weekend and won the first set 21-6. Amy & I knew they would come back fighting in the second set. They did & the game was tight all the through to the end when we won 21-17. We were now in the final & had to play Emma Hooper & Natalia Mitchell. We had to settle for silver this time, losing 21-19, 21-19.

A very close runners-up at the Cambridge 2018 – Senior Silver, could have gone either way.
